Project for February: Pleasant Pheasant Slippers, by Lara Neel

No need to wallow in winter blues when you can revel in cozy, colorful, CASHMERE slippers! These cushy and adorable slippers are knit from the toe up, employing the Eye of Partridge stitch commonly used only in the heel flap of socks to provide added reinforcement and durability to this delicate fiber blend. The overall stitch pattern is a perfect complement to the warm, ever-changing hues of red, fuchsia, green, lavender and gold. A toasty treat for your feet!

006Knit the Great American Aran Afghan

Last Saturday of the Month
(February 27)
10 a.m.–noon

We tackled the Great American Afghan and were not defeated—now it’s time for a new challenge! Join us as we delve into the Aran tradition of cables, bobbles and textured fabrics. We will knit one block each month, 20 squares in all, and end with a gorgeous twisted cable edge. No registration required—come as you can to share your tips, learn from others, and experience the joy of completing a beautiful heirloom piece with others. (Note: Since this afghan is knit in one color of yarn, it is recommended to purchase enough skeins of the same dye lot before starting the project. We are using Cascade 220 and 220 Superwash. Call Yarn Soup at 563-587-8044 to request your preferred color.)
